I have several responsibilities which include hardware installation and maintenance, architecture planning and implementation, configuration management, provisioning and decommissioning of VMs to support our highly distributed platform, which includes over 70 different services working together to meet our customer's needs. I also participate in a weekly rotation for dealing with escalated support issues and platform performance. In addition to those responsibilities I also perform DBA activities and am directly responsible for 6 HP Vertica clusters (columnar data store) and 30+ PostgreSQL servers. Our platform is powered also entirely by open-source software, so I am very familiar with several open-source technologies.
